SERVICE

CLUB THEME: LEADERS IN SERVICE
Altrusa plays a unique role in communities as Leaders In Service. Although the membership is open to men and women, most of the organization members are women. Altrusa was founded on April 11, 1917 and early on made vocational education for women one of its main concerns. Since that time its concerns have expanded to include, among other projects, literacy for adults and children and AIDS. Although an international organization, Altrusa is, first and foremost, a community-based, grassroots organization that seeks to solve the problems in our own backyards. Altrusa is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with over 500 clubs internationally and 37 statewide.

The Altrusa Club of Southeast Tarrant County is committed to its community and the citizens of the community. The club was chartered on January 24, 1997. The membership consists of career oriented women whose professions include accounting, education, engineering, finance, healthcare, homemakers, government services, law, human resources and sales/marketing. Since inception, the members have contributed over 5,000 hours of volunteer activity.
